Seedling Availability

VFM orders a limited number of seedlings for non-profit organizations every year. In the event that there are extra available they will be available to be booked by members of the general public after April 15.

Obtaining Seedlings

VFM purchases white pine, red pine, jack pine, and white spruce seedlings from tree growers in Northeastern Ontario using Forest Renewal Trust Fund money collected at the time of harvesting.  Seedlings are ordered and custom grown 1 to 1 ½ years before planting using seed collected and supplied by VFM.  Seedlings are typically 10 to 20 cm tall at time of planting.

Seedlings Available

VFM has a limited number of seedlings available for educational or non-profit organizations such as day cares, schools, environmental groups, and churches.  Up to 300 may be booked by each organization after Feb 1 of each year.  Red pine will typically be the species available.  Seedlings are picked up from College Boreal during the months of May or June.

If the annual amount of seedlings has not been fully booked by these groups before April 15, members of the general public may book up to 300 seedlings each at no charge until the pool of seedlings is exhausted.

Members of the public can purchase seedlings from suppliers in Northeastern Ontario.  Please call the nurseries for availability and pricing:
